It’s Mardi Gras Somewhere

Near Reynolds Square today, I overheard an older couple have the following exchange:

Her: It’s awfully quiet around here.
Him: Eh?? (More of a grunted question mark)
Her: Well, isn’t it Fat Tuesday? Isn’t something supposed to be going on?
Him (digusted): That’s New Orleans.

The following is a copy of correspondence I sent to today.

To Whom It May Concern:

Until today, I have been a long time subscriber to the e-newsletter.

The reason I have cancelled my subscription is because has chosen to use spyware in its promotional offers. Specifically, your email offer from today, February 24, 2006, for “One Free Creamy Caramel Doughnut” instructs users to follow a link to get the redeeming coupon.

However, instead of simply obtaining a printable coupon, users are directed to install “Coolsavings” from Spyware watch company,, describes your affiliate, as “Spyware. You should remove it from your system as soon as possible. ” has chosen to partner with an extremely shady business. Because of your affiliation with, I will no longer do business with I encourage to reconsider the use of spyware to promote its products.

Learning Curveball

In the few short weeks that Mike and I have been really focused on the production of America’s Debate Radio, I’ve learned a few things.

First, there actually are differences between electronic music loops and rhythms. Before AD Radio, all that house, techno, and trance crap sounded exactly the same to me. It no longer sounds all the same, but it’s still all crap.

Second, the name “Ted Nugent” sounds the same played both forwards and backwards. (Listen to tomorrow night’s show to figure out how I may have arrived at this meaty tidbit).

With all this heavy knowledge I’m gaining, AD Radio should reveal to me the meaning of life by the end of the month. I’ll keep you posted.

I realize this ship’s been in harbor for quite awhile. Obviously, I’ve been spending most of my time with America’s Debate Radio – which, by the way, has been going quite well so far. Thanks to everyone who has called. It’s been incredibly fun.

bucket, if you’ve not seen it yet, Mike has made the image link. Sweet, si?.
