Listless

Flatline on my emotional capabilities lately. I feel nothing. I get excited about nothing. I find myself just sitting and staring for extended periods of time. At work, at home, I just sit and stare. I feel like I’m waiting for something to happen, but what that something is I just don’t know. I can’t even continue because I’ve tired of this.

If you’re bored, you’re boring… If you’re bored, you’re boring… If you’re bored, you’re boring… If you’re bored, you’re boring… If you’re bored, you’re boring… If you’re bored, you’re boring… If you’re bored, you’re boring… If you’re bored, you’re boring… If you’re bored, you’re boring… If you’re bored, you’re boring… If you’re bored, you’re boring… If you’re bored, you’re boring… If you’re bored, you’re boring… If you’re bored, you’re boring… If you’re bored, you’re boring… If you’re bored, you’re boring… If you’re bored, you’re boring… If you’re bored, you’re boring… If you’re bored, you’re boring… If you’re bored, you’re boring… If you’re bored, you’re boring… If you’re bored, you’re boring… If you’re bored, you’re boring… If you’re bored, you’re boring…

You need a hurricane! Well, okay, maybe not. Maybe some kind of cheap escapism? Some stupid movie or computer game or a decent book, perhaps. Dale Humphreys swears by baking bread, but I don’t think it would work for me. Maybe play with the cats for a while: I’ve found that animals doing really stupid things (like jumping onto a box and falling inside or running into a wall) can sometimes snap me out of listlessness. It’s usually a temporary fix, though – after the humor or cuteness has worn off, I can be right back in the doldrums. Maybe you need some kind of project that’s focused on someone else – like mentoring or something. Or something competitve? I don’t know, I think we all get like that sometimes – some kind of planetary cycle or something. Sorry to hear you’re not quite yourself, anyway – wish there were more I could do…

I know that feeling well, but I don’t really have any good advice for you. I usually just end up playing some mind numbing computer game to pass the time until I do suddenly feel inspired again. :(

Thanks Wertz & Cyan. You guys are the best.

Every year the shortening of the days makes me a little squirrely. As soon as I realize what’s happening I snap out of it. I’m much better than I used to be back in Illinois. I joke with Mike that I will eventually have to live at the equator to stay normal.

Hmmm, I don’t exactly know a healthy way to deal with this myself. Come to think of it, the last few times I was truely bored I have: changed jobs, moved to San Francisco and decided to ride in a extremely long biking event.

So yeah, guess I’m not much help :)
