G8, Monday
Mike has taken to chronical the events as well. Please be sure to check out his log here: 2004 G8 Summit
From WSAV, Thin Crowds, “Tomorrow, the city’s Forsyth Park will be the site of a ‘peace and civil liberties festival.’ Organizers has estimated about five- to ten-thousand people to attend that event, but today they lowered that projection to around one-thousand.” (emphasis mine).
20,000 police & military for 1,000 protesters? No. It’s now apparent that it is not just the protesters they are looking to keep quiet.

I read Mike’s entries so far a little earlier. Savannah sounds awful at the moment. Okay, I can see a bit of paranoia about and preparedness for a potential terrorist act, but it all strikes me as being rather ostentatiously cosmetic. I suppose if something did happen, there’d be a lot of people to clean up and clamp down afterwards - but that doesn’t strike me as being terribly comforting.
